F3 Greenwood hosted it’s first “Dad’s Campout” on the campus of Connie Maxwell Children’s Home. It was a one-night Campout designed to promote all three F’s. YHC was delegated the responsibility to Q a workout for Saturday morning, before breakfast, as all the 2.0’s were rolling out of bed. YHC’s goal was simply to make the work-out light and fun for the 2.0’s.
Weather: It was a nice, clear, cool morning – perfect for a nice campfire and a little workout.
Warm-Up (all in cadence)
SSH X 10
IW X 10
Toe Touches X 10
LBAC X 20 (forward and backwards)
The Thang
YHC led the PAX in some “Minute to Win It” Drills. 45 seconds of work and 15 seconds of rest. We performed a variety of exercises, including Merkins, V-Ups, Sit-ups, etc. We did use the 2.0’s playlist so there would be some more “modern” music than my 80’s playlist(s).
We rolled some dice for our next activity. Fabio brought some dice. One dice had a series of exercises on them and the other dice was filled with numbers. The PAX would take turns rolling the dice to determine what exercise was called and how many repetitions. We took turns rolling the dice and did a variety of exercises. There were several audibles. For instance, one PAX discovered there were no Burpees on the dice, so we did call Burpees and rolled the dice to determine the number of reps. Exercises included – Merkins, sit-ups, to touches, V-Ups, crunches.
To conclude the workout, we went on a little jog, down the dusty road and back.
Count-O-Rama: We had 47 PAX,
Name-O-Rama
Announcements: Uncle Buck mentioned that he received a “thank you” from Mr. Dorn for participating in Relay for Life. Mr. Dorn wants to meet with us and talk about another project. Juggernaut is still wanting some folks to step up to help with the Houston Lunch
Prayer Requests – Blue Ball and family. He will be going to John Hopkins on June 3 for a biopsy. Praying for school children, teachers and parents who are about to go into Summer Break.
YHC led a prayer to conclude
Naked Moleskin –
- This camp out was a HUGE success, tclaps for Boy George or having this vision and for organizing everything to make it an enjoyable weekend for everyone.
- As we were working out, throwing the dice to our kids and watching them roll with excitement, it occurred to YHC what a special time this was. In 5 years, we will not be able re-create the magic of this campout. In 5 years, all our 2.0’s will be 5 years older, their interests will be different, our relationships with them will be different, they may not want to be “seen” with their Dad, much less work out with them. This was a special moment.
- This weekend gave us time to spend with our 2.0’s. I’ve heard several PAX mention how awesome it felt so have this weekend. Meatloaf made mentioned how nice it was to have such good “Dad’s time” with his children, Uncle Buck’s 2.0’s are older, and he recognized how “special” it was to have them all together, getting along for a fun 24 hour period. YHC also had a moment as my 10 year old 2.0 sat on my lap prior to lunch. She’ll be a teenager in less than 3 years, so who knows how many of these moments I’ll enjoy before she’ll be “too old” to sit on my lap or have a campout like this with her dad.
- This was, no doubt, a 2nd F weekend. We all got to hang out and relax with one another, which we miss during our regular workout times. It was wonderful to spend time and get to know with each and every PAX.a little better
- Fabio needs a shout-out for his devotions. Personally, I thought they were age-appropriate and the perfect length for the 2.0’s. They were simple enough to understand, but detailed enough to get the overall message across. Thankful to have Fabio as part our group (not bad for someone who attended the initial Big Bang and threw away his F3 sticker because he was not interested in this at all).
- In conclusion, friendships were made, relationships were strengthened, frogs were killed, food was eaten, memories were made.
Always and honor and a privileged to be part of this great group,
Respectfully submitted,
Judge Judy
