YHC’s , that right multiple q’s, welcomed the time of 6am to find the real Q, T-Rav was no where in site. That left myself and Blueprint to figure out how to administer pain for 45 minutes on the fly. As we mosied into the gloom, heard Kobiashi, who was bringing the Shipyard gang into dock after a Fantastic Voyage, break into a Rob Base classic- “It takes two to make a thing go right”……………My mind drifts off to a time 30 years ago, in fall 1987, as a yound junior comes transferring into UGA to enter pharmacy school. It was a grand time , the best of times, and I was at my prime. This was 1987, and this is when bars were packed to the max. And not just bars, dance clubs. You stayed in the bar til midnight and then packed the night clubs til 5am , if unlucky, and earlier , if you met the girl to make your dreams for the night. This was a time when the smart guys knew the way in was to dance. Movies like Breakin, Dirty dancing, Footloose, American Anthem, made it cool to dance and let it go. The grunge craze that would hit four years from now would take that away , but this was peak party time at the night clubs. Not your 70s John Travolta like Baby Blue did. No, this was to Bobby Brown, Tone Loc, Salt and Pepper, Paula Abdul, MC Hammer…it was get-down funk. And when songs like ” It takes two to make a thing go right would come on, it was the the extended version . The 20 minute hard core one. When you came off floor, and this was before dryfit, you were soaked in sweat, which is crazy thinking back how still you would be all over a girl and they would not be pushing you off. The workout you were doing rivaled any F3 Q Alpo had ever done and the speed with which the alcohol you were consuming was metabolized out was crazy. But to get the girl, you had to Bust a Move (Young MC 87). All you were thinking was you wanted to Lay it Down (Ratt 87) . You wanted to Push it Real Good (Salt and Pepper 87). You were sweating Head to Toe (Lisa Lisa 87), wanted it to feel Just like Paradise (David Lee Roth 87) and didnt want to go home All Cried Out (Lisa Lisa 87) . Hope you found a girl who had sipped on the Funky Cold Medina (Tone Loc 87) and didn’t want Nothing But a Good Time (Poison 87). You were really Loving every Minute of it (Loverboy 87). ………and then my mind drifts back , and it is 2017 and I have a coupon in hand with my brother Blueprint and it is time to work out energy in safer , more family and faith oriented ways in 2017.

Mosied up and returned coupon. At this point, I turned to Blueprint and said, hey we got about 7 minutes. Let’s be Uncle Jesse and Flossy and see what it is like to do lap 6 on the Battleship. Will get us ready for the ship Saturday. So off we sprinted. Up the concrete monster, 5 merkins, over to benches, 5 step ups for us, over to flagpole , 5 reverse crunches, to light pole, 5 gorilla squats, to wall , 5 Austrailian climbers, to backcourt, 5 dips, and to base of monster, 5 curls and time called. Winners!

Time called. We know each other and we know prayers needed. Especially thinking about our boy T-Rav prayers with him and family. Also thinking about Mr. Bean and his anxiety about this time of year (just screw it and come join us for an hour), Blue and his wandering eye to post wherever, the English lads who are evidently just having a lay, and Hoser-only one out of town unavailable. And thinking of all my F3 brothers, the best for ya’ll and blessing for you and family.
