Recover

COT: was done with everyone being very spread out and nothing earth shattering was shared.

NMS:

  • The only real way I have found the make myself accountable is to sign up for the Q. So, seeing that the Q was still open, I decided to take it.
  • As I pulled into the parking lot, 15 minutes early as every good QIC should do, I noticed there were quite a few cars already in the parking lot. My first thought was “dang, these guys are really excited for my comeback (at least the 3rd attempt)” but when I said that out load it made me laugh. So my second thought was “I’ve been gone so long that the time has changed and I’m actually late”. But after I checked the area and saw no one hanging around, I figured they must have all went for a pre BC mosey. That rumor was spread last night, but it was a very large group of runners. They must be training for something.
  • It was evident very early on that the numbers were going to be larger than normal. But no worries, the planned WOD allowed for separation.
  • 6:00 hit and we made our way to the field. All adhering to the suggested distance of separation.
  • The original call was for 4 rounds of Round 1, but it was evident early on that this needed to be modified if I wanted us to hit all 3 Rounds. So recover was called after a certain amount of time and we moved onto the next round.
  • The original plan also called for only 5 Burpees, but for some strange reason I said 10 during the instruction phase. This was not modified. Well, with the exception of Duggar, but he was protecting an injury (I hope), so he did Merkins instead.
  • The mumble chatter was very prevalent, but you could barely make it out due to the social distancing. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to be responsible.
  • We had several front runners today. You know who you are and kudos. Stay motivated to stay out front and give the 2nd tier guys someone to chase.
  • We have a handful of guys who are not where they want to be fitness wise, but gains are being made. Stay motivated and find someone who is just a little more fit than you and chase them down.
  • We had a great group of men post this morning and it definitely helps those of us who are struggling to find motivation. Keep up the good work.
  • I’m definitely one of those guys who is not where he wants to be fitness wise. Which makes committing to Q tough, because of the fear you have of not leading a WOD that pushes the fit. So I try to design something that allows the front runners to take off and the rest of us to do what we can do without holding anyone back. The key here is to push yourself hard enough to get the maximum benefit. I hope everyone did that today. If not, do better next time.
  • Just as I hope my WOD was worth getting up for, I also hope this BB is a little more MM-esq, because apparently my last one failed miserably.

Until the next Q,

The Meter is paid in full.

AND I”M BACK! (For at least the 3rd time… and it may only last a day. We’ll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.)
