33 PAX resisted the Fartsack and posted for the weekly Starbucks run. The weather was in the low 50’s and absolutely perfect.
This run was a little different than our usual Wednesday run. Jo Beth Hite (Papa Smurf’s M) has a run group named “While America Sleeps” (a/k/a “WAS”) which runs at the same location and the same time as we do on Wednesdays. Jo Beth approached Flossy about the possibility of joining our groups for the purpose of donating for Hurricane Matthew Relief for Haiti.
With one minute before “go” time, I gave the usual disclaimer and explained the route(s) to the FNG. Promptly at 5:15, I encouraged everyone to REDLINE (i.e. go all out, leave nothing on the table, push it) and yelled “LET’S GO” to my F3 brothers at promptly at 5:15. We are always on time.
While running immediately at 5:15 is second nature for all us F3 guys, it apparently is not the norm for the “WAS” group. They were still lacing their shoes, adjusting their reflective gear, etc and it caught them by surprise. They quickly hit the road, and they passed many of us. In fact, Jo Beth basically sprinted passed me as I was creeping up the hill besides Starbucks.
Anyway, we all ran and we all returned. Which is good.
We also brought donations for the Haiti relief fun. The grand total was $746.00. This is just an example of how awesome things can be accomplished when we work together. Some folks gave $5.00, some gave $10.00 and some obviously gave more. But, we all chipped in and this money will go a very long way in Haiti. Job well done, guys (and girls).
Count-O-Rama: We had 32 with one FNG
Name-O-Rama. Yeah, we did the names, too.
Announcements: F3 Campout at Connie Maxwell next weekend. If you haven’t signed up, get with Boy George (or someone). There is a sign up sheet posted on Slack to reserve a bunk. Also, Shirt Orders are opened if you want/need a F3 “The Wood” shirt. Christmas is coming and would be a great gift idea to give your family .
Prayers: Smokey’s friends wife, Blue Ball surgery (and fractured wrist and hernia), Mac-N-Cheeses 2.0, Rodman’s knee, Roach’s grandfather’s funeral in Indiana, and other unspoken Prayer requests.
YHC ended in prayer.
This was the first Q for YHC in a while. It felt good to be back and hope it’s the beginning of some more Q’s!
Peace,
Judge Judy
