F3 Greenwood

5 pax posted to #Hustle for a convoy to #Fountain Head for a Mini-Convergence on F3 Day, 1yr Anniversary.

Flossy had a great idea last night to combine both AO’s for a Mini-Convergence COT today on the Anniversary of F3 Nation planting Greenwood. It didn’t take but a second for YHC to take this idea and run with it. Here’s how it went down……

Just prior to 0515, YHC let the pax know that they needed to lock their vehicles because we would be leaving the AO. Then YHC let it be known what today was and the importance, along with the really cool fact that the Space Station was to fly over The Yard at precisely 0516. This was important information, because even though today was a run day, we decided to commemorate the 34 SadClowns that posted last year with 34 (4ct) Flutter Kicks IC. A super strategic move that allowed for a complete viewing of the SS in orbit while exercising. Flossy had dropped the brand new Hustle shovelflag off this morning prior to heading to the Fountainhead to deliver its’ new shovelflag and running back to The Yard for some Hustle. He heard the instructions while running toward our position and we all made our way to our backs to begin the exercise. At some point counting to 34 while staring at the Space Station traveling at 17,150 mph became increasingly difficult and the count was lost. YHC made a close enough guess as to where we were and we resumed until 34 was reached. RECOVER!
It was now time to begin Hustle. YHC called out two warm up laps around the school to which we ended up stopping in the middle of the Concrete Monster. Here YHC informed the pax that we would sprint down the Monster to touch the fence and then run backwards up to our starting positions. This was carried out with great disdain by all the pax including YHC. RECOVER!
The clock struck 0535 which meant it was now time to start the 2.2 mile journey to the Fountainhead. YHC grabbed the shovelflag and off we went. Each of the 5 pax had an opportunity to run with Old Glory unfurled and flapping in the wind. We were parading the flag through town like the Olympic torch running to kickoff the festivities. There’s a hill that starts at the bottom of Connie Maxwell and lasts until it runs into Main St. This hill had been freshly paved by a few of our fine SCDOT crews that happen to be F3 pax. We were admiring their handy work when from behind us Pacer came hard and fast out of the morning gloom. He had been apart of the XL OnB group and was interested only in continuing his sprint to the finish. As he passed, Benedict commented, “they should call him Sprinter and not Pacer, that’s way too fast to be a pacer!” After crossing the railroad tracks, YHC called a pit stop for 10 Merkins to allow the stragglers to catch the group. As we were coming up to Main St., we were greeted by a heavy cross traffic of Out N Backer’s making their way to the fountain. Benedict was the last man with flag duty and brought us in strong in stride as a group for a early morning Mini-Convergence Surprise to our fellow pax.
