Army Staff Sgt. Jack M. Martin III, 26, of Bethany, Oklahoma, assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, Wash., died September 29th, 2009, in Jolo Island, Philippines, from the detonation of an improvised explosive device. Martin is survived by his wife Ashley Martin, his parents Jack and Cheryl Martin, and siblings Abe, Mandi, Amber and Abi.

NMM- Just so happened that this was a pull up and thruster heavy week. Several PAX hit me up to see what I had planned. I had several requests for a leg friendly WOD due to some nagging injuries. I was quick to a oblige, because my thighs were wrecked from Tweeter’s onslaught at Fury. Have you ever tried to find a leg friendly Hero WOD?? Yeah, well good luck. The closest I could find turned out to be a shoulder blaster. I hope everyone brushed their teeth before they came, because it could become quite the obstacle after this. TCLAPS to Pacer, Quickie, and Tickle for showing up with injured knees, elbows, and heart rate limitations. I think if I had announced thrusters or pull ups, BenGay would have checked out on us. He was ready for different kind of pain. I think he found what he was looking for. If my math serves me right, we did between 700-900 reps in 30 min and swung or pressed a cumulative 25,000-31,000lbs! Impressive work men! During COT, we came to the stark realization that we are all in our 40’s. I believe we just had the inaugural meeting of the 40’s Club. I would have laughed in your face in my 30’s if you told me I would be doing this ludicrous activity at 47. It’s all because I’m surrounded by a bunch of crazy dudes that think just like me. So when do we get to do this again??
