So this initial plan was for the Red Friday workout to take on the dreaded benchmark WOD known as Angie. That said, due to the increased numbers, YHC had to modify. My thought was that the lack of space for pull-ups would inhibit the PAX from experiencing Angie the way it is intended. So I opted to start with Omar and see where it went from there. I assumed Omar would be one of the quicker workouts on our Hero list, so I had a little surprise up my sleeve. The PAX were in for a little BOGO special. Buy one (Omar) and Get one (Angie) 1/2 off.
Here is how it went down.
Omar:
20 Thrusters
15 Burpees
40 Thrusters
25 Burpees
60 Thrusters
35 Burpees
Times:
Lite Brite: 11:35
Thumper: 16:10
Refugee: 14:50
Flossy: 12:30
Duggar: 13:50
Sugar: 13:05
Uncle Jesse: 11:52
Mac N Cheese: 16:20
Meter Maid: 15:36
Baby Blu: 13:26
Alpo: 15:54
As expected, the PAX got through Omar pretty quickly and I didn’t want them to feel like they had wasted their time driving ALL THE WAY to the Epicenter for a 10-15 minute workout, so we moseyed over to the playground to knock out 1/2 of Angie. Again, the space was problematic so I instructed the PAX to break the reps up as needed in order to ensure we all weren’t on the pull up bars at the same time. Bottom line we did the following work:
1/2 Angie
50 Pull-ups
50 Merkins
50 Big Boys Sit-ups
50 Air Squats
COT/BOM/Prayer
Blue Ball’s Family, Animal, Terry Jones and family, Baby Blu’s daughter (health) and son (starting new job).
