Devotion:

“but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”  – 1 Peter 3:15

YHC noted that we should always be ready to do the above, but I left off with “with gentleness and respect.” Meatloaf added the ending to which YHC promptly blew off to some laughter. But, that is the most important part. We can know lots of things and reasons and Bible verses, and still be a jerk who pushes people away. Gentleness is not weakness, it is the right amount of pressure to achieve the desired goal. We as a PAX must keep reinvigorating male leadership at the forefront of what we do. Each man needs different encouragement, being gentle with another man does not mean being easy or soft, but using the right amount of force to accomplish our mission.

Sinful pride is always a stench that will drive people away. Humility and gentleness attract and inspire. One of the way we foster gentleness and humility is to face our failures and sins. A few quotes hit me after YHC blew off meatloaf’s correction.
“It is out of our brokenness that we serve and until we are broken, we don’t serve well.” Larry Coulter
“It is unlikely that God will greatly use a person unless he or she has been broken.”  Alan Nelson

None of us are complete in and of ourselves. May we all strive to encourage our fellow man to not simply post to get in shape, but post to make a difference in themselves and their communities.

Go enjoy your Thanksgiving!
