The summer after my freshman year of college, I worked at a summer camp in Alabama. As the summer began, our team quickly realized that things did not always turn out as we had planned or anticipated (that fact. I soon realized, was true outside of camp as well). After one particular logistical nightmare, my team leader exclaimed. “Choose you own adventure!”, as if to say that we should be quick on our feet and have a little fun when things don’t go as planned. Needless to say that phrase ran through my head several times during this morning’s workout at the Epicenter. What started out as a classic Deck of Death quickly turned into a “Choose your own adventure” version of Deck of Death. Truth be told, it had been a while since I had done a DoD and therefore forgot what some of the cards meant. Special thanks to the Pax for helping me think on the fly and having some laughs too.

Devotional:
Today we took a moment to look at James 4:13-17. This passage talks about how often times we are bent on our own will or fleshly passions, so much that we think we can control how our lives plays out. If we claim to be followers of Jesus Christ, we must remember that we are called to submit to the will of God every day. This sounds daunting, but is simply studying God word, obeying it as authority, and leveraging your life for God’s glory. This is something that has convicted me as of late so I thought I would share and challenge.

As always it was a pleasure to lead you brothers. Hope to see all of you again soon!
