I know, I know, Polly probably thinks I should make some Batman reference. But, Polly, the many routes which everyone now runs on Wednesdays more closely resemble something Spidey would sling form his wrists than any bat, um, stuff. So 25 PAX got the runs from coffee at Starbucks this morning and it looked like spiderwebs.
This is day 3 of YHC’s #HellWeek and, honestly, one of my favorite workouts every week. Once upon a time, YHC suffered through a 5K every Wednesday just to get to the coffee and fellowship afterward. YHC distinctly remembers running past Flossy one morning last fall and hearing him say, “Good job, Jug!” YHC was pissed about having to run just to enjoy the fellowship and trotted by, out of breath. Flossy looked at another PAX and said, “He hates running. Hates it.”
Well, not anymore. YHC has even given in to being labeled a runner. Who knew when you set goals and make it interesting that running can be fun. Yikes. I sound like a runner.
Meatloaf did some XXL then showed up at 0515 to encourage YHC to a new 8K PR just because he’s Meatloaf and that’s what Meatloaf does – he encourages others.
MeterMaid and UncleBuck posted for some XXL and a couple others as well.
Some went XL and at 0512 Pothole decided he was done waiting and set out on a 5-miler of his own.
Some PAX went too fast and crashed, including one of the sistas who runs on Wednesdays from Starbucks with a group of sistas. Slow down, folks. We have cops who post and are not afraid to write tickets.
It’s really cool to watch the evolution of this Wednesday run from everyone running a 5K to everyone pushing themselves into new and exciting territory with regard to running. Keep it up!
YHC did get on a little soap box (haha, YHC doesn’t really do ‘little’ soap boxes) concerning vets. A little over a week ago, UncleBuck threw down the challenge to do 22 merkins to raise awareness for the 22 vets who commit suicide daily. The challenge was to reach out to a vet and make a difference. Just 2 out of 25 have done that. I’m not going to get into my own story here, but suffice it to say I have been there. Reach out. DO something, don’t just talk about doing it brothers!
Aye! Jugz out!
