Summertime 2.0

This is the second summer F3Greenwood has been in existence, hence the term Summertime 2.0. But today also marked the first F3Dads workout of the summer! #TClaps to BoyGeorge who has gone above and beyond and really made the beginning of the summer memorable with all the great family stuff!

YHC had the privilege of having the Q for this first Dads workout. Proper disclaimers were given to children prior to arrival, but there was no need to worry. YHC was on his best behavior. Well, except for getting Fabio accosted by volunteers about the bear crawls on the hill…

  • Mosey behind the flag over to the pull-up bars
  • SSH x 20 IC
  • Merkins x 10 IC

  • 0s run around while dads give chase. If dad catches his 2.0, dad gets to give that 2.0 a big hug!

TheThang

  • Three stations:
    • Tires – Dad flips the tire and 2.0(s) jump through (or in some cases over)
    • Dead Hangs – 2.0 hangs on the pull-up bar while dad does burpees until 2.0 lets go. Flapjack.
    • Monkey Bars – 2.0 traverses monkey bars(with dad’s help, if necessary) then dad traverses monkey bars.
  • Mosey down to Restrepo Hill
    • Dad planks at the bottom while 2.0 bear crawls to the top (crawl bear if they can)
    • 0s plank while dads crawl bear to the top #CrowdPleaser
  • Mosey around the pond to the dock and have a seat while YHC shares a special Memorial Day story (G rated version of the same story YHC shared at Fury earlier this morning).
  • Mosey back to the flag for pics and some good ol’ F3 style fun!

  • We had a few new 2.0s and a rename. A total of 28 pax and 2.0s. But YHC has somehow deleted the recording and has no official record. #Cobains

  • YHC has inexplicably deleted the recording of all the names. 28 is just too many for my feeble mind to contend with. So, again, #Cobains.
  • #TClaps to Fabio for taking the fall with the volunteer police for our bear crawl action on Restrepo Hill. Probably a good thing they didn’t observe the assault on the hill during the Fury workout…
  • There was an awkward moment while chasing 2.0s where Sparkle caught his 2.0, Glitter. The hug was awkward and reminded YHC of how a guy would hug his cross-dressing cousin he only sees at a family reunion every third year.
  • Some pax opted for merkins rather than burpees at the pull-up bars. YHC, of course, opted for burpees. Capri sought an accomplice to help YHC’s 2.0 hang indefinitely while YHC pouded out burpees. A long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away), YHC was joined by Nipples and Snoop in an hour-long burpee AMRAP. #IGotThis
  • One of Fabio’s 2.0s had a prayer request, but, alas, she is kin to Fabio and so the prayer request was #Unspoken.
  • It was, again, a pleasure talking about my buddy Scott Stream. Until joining F3, I had never spoken about the events of 2/24/09 to anyone. My M still doesn’t know the story. A few months ago, YHC programmed a hero WOD for REDFriday in his honor, but remained very vague about the circumstances. It was refreshing (and more than a little scary) recounting the story in front of other people. Truthfully, I haven’t stopped crying randomly all day long. Appreciate the pax allowing me to share Scott’s story.
