I have always heard that Wine gets better with age. I am going to have to trust those Wine connoisseurs out there because other than a nip of Boons Farm back in College I have probably had less than two glasses of wine in my life. Don’t judge me. I have just always preferred a glass of sweet tea with my meals and yes Boons Farm is wine I don’t care what you say. So that leads me to a very intriguing question. Do potatoes get better with age? Do What? Before I answer that question, please let me throw out some very important dates. September 1, 1974 I was born. August 29, 2015 I was beat in to the Greenwood street gang known as F3 (Yes beat in, I still have nightmares of Flossy telling me I was going to be part of an Indian Run and a Deck of Death, Really???? I thought this guy was a dentist not a torture specialist, maybe those are synonymous terms) I digress. Back to my earlier question. Do potatoes get better with age? Well last year I certainly would have answered that question with a definitive NO. They rot with age as I felt I was. This potato was not getting better with age. He was large, he was unhealthy, he had really high blood pressure and it all was on account of being an absolute couch potato. Ok, so you get the story fast forward a year and this potato is now a stud, he is much healthier and he has perfect blood pressure. Well although all of that is true, especially the stud spud part, that is not what I was thinking at all. I love the healthy part but that is not why I feel like I can answer my question with a definitive YES now. Potatoes do get better with age but only when they surround themselves with other supportive vegetables who make them better. This group has made me better! I have surrounded myself with a great group of men and I am a better person for it. It blows my mind that a year ago on my 41st birthday I didn’t even know most of you. Wow what a year can do. I want to thank all of you for investing in this potato!
