Conditions:
66* F and 100% cloud cover with a beautiful lightening display off to the west. Ol’ Charlie Gertz said “you may want to take your umbrella with you because there is a 50% chance of rain at 5am” but we all know that it doesn’t rain at 5am regardless of whether “Charlie said it would” or not.
Location:
In the back parking area of the Epicenter from the speed bump to the cone placed just before the gate (approximately 1/8th of a mile).
Warm up:
None.
Several guys were sent to the coupon cage to get coupons for everyone and the rest got ready.
The Work:
It’s just 115 pounds. Teams of 3. PAX #2 and #3 pick up the barbell by the ends and PAX 1 assumes the position under the weighted barbell (45# barbell + 2-35# plates). As soon as the barbell is situated comfortable across the shoulders, P2 and 3 release the weight and P1, 2, and 3 walk to the far end of the parking area (P1 with the barbell, P2 and 3 coupon farmer carry). At the far end P2 and 3 set down their coupons and remove the burden from their brother. P1 rotates out and P2 rotates under the bar.
Any odd man out will, will coupon carry to the halfway point (indicated by the parked cars) and do 20 flutter kicks. Once done with the flutter kicks, continue the coupon carry to the far end and do:
-
10 Merkin coupon drags
20 Block Pull Overs
40 Side Straddle Hops
PAX rotate in and out from under the barbell at each end.
The goal for this workout was to have a shared burden and to carry the barbell a minimum of 1 mile (1/8th of a mile at a time). We exceeded our goal by half a mile.
COT:
Count-o-rama and Name-o-rama.

The Epicenter parking area has a lot more traffic that you would think
A sense of dread came over me each time it was my turn to should the load and the relief and gratitude I felt for my brothers was beyond belief when they shared the load
Quarantine babies are a thing
It’s just 115 pounds but starts to get uncomfortable really quick. The weight isn’t difficult to carry in your legs, but it starts to put a lot of pressure on your shoulders
PotHole needed the 45 pound plates instead of the 35’s
Everyone put in an amazing amount of work this morning
Things started off a little rocky but smoothed out after the 2nd lap and every one got a feel for what the work involved
It didn’t get easier
Thanks for another opportunity to lead and learn to lead
