Did you ever put together a workout that looked better (easier) on paper? With 3 vets with me from HQ I knew that I had to put together something strong. Maybe I got a little carried away.
Here’s what we did. The Thang:
-
Mosey to the concession stand/fieldhouse. Warm up with SSH, IW, and CCV (Cumberland County Viaduct; although Hops informed me later that I didn’t do it quite right. I think my variant hurt more).
Starfish: At each spoke we did 20 of each: Heels to Heaven, LBC, Monkey Humpers, Merkins, and Sister Mary Katherine (Bonny Blair). At each return to the middle we did 10 Mike Tyson.
We moseyed to collect concrete blocks, and stopped at the adjacent field where I placed 3 cones equal distance apart every 20 yards. Partner up and instructions as follows:
-
Partner 1 run out with your block and drop it off at the first cone. Partner 2 did a called exercise
Partner 2 runs out and picked up block at first cone. Then runs to drop it off at 2nd. Partner 1 does called exercise.
Partner 1 runs out to block and takes it to the 3rd Partner 2 does called exercise.
Partner 2 runs out to block at 3rd cone and brings it back to the 2nd. Partner 1 = called exercise.
Partner 1 runs out to the block and brings it back to the 1st You guessed it – Partner 2 does the called exercise.
Finally Partner 2 runs to the block at the 1st cone and brings it home.
We did 3 rounds of block suicide with called exercises focusing on legs, abs, arms.
Next we did Captain Thor up to 10:40 count
After that Block Webb up to 5:20 count.
Still time left for a quick grinder variant – Partners face each other at opposite cones; run to the center for 10 hand slap merkins. 5 rounds of this.
Mosey back to launch for some Mary

The crowd pleasers were: Mike Tyson’s, Captain Thor, and Block Webb #you’rewelcome
I saw Sugar and Meter Maid running around the track #smartmove
I guess Uncle Jesse and Alpo decided to do burpees on their own #Burpeefreeworkout
2C….2C. Man, I recommend not removing your shirt in the grass and then putting it back on before wiping down. #grassstain.
It was really great for my S.Clt brothers to meet some of Greenwood’s pax.
Thank you for letting me lead you guys. As always I enjoyed your company. Howards was on point as well. #nocoffeegrinds

Bye, bye Shipyard. It was real, it was good. It wasn’t real good.
Keep Tickle in your prayers for healing. Talk to him about what’s up. Pray that we can lift up others, and somehow a ripple effect helps slow down the amount of gun violence we have in our country.
Until Labor Day weekend – stay thirsty my friends.
