Jugz and YHC had an idea, most ideas concocted from this pairing wind up being fairly stupid and occasionally some fun. GORUCK had it’s monthly challenge to buddy carry someone for a mile. It is it hard to get folks to do something ridiculous, so when you are the Q you just throw it on them. So, Murph on the horizon why not combine a mini-Murph with buddy carries up Cambridge.
Warm-Up
20 Side straddle hops
20 alternating shoulder taps
10 deep squat holds
The Thang:
We paired up (after some trouble) into teams of 4 and three. It was announced each PAX would complete a mini-Murph (50 pull-ups, 100 merkins and 150 squats). But, in lieu of the run, there would be an approx. 1/2 mile buddy carry up and back down the hill.
After a quick OYO, the teams were off. Quickly, teams with a lightweight PAX saw they had an advantage. YHC is not sure who was smaller RearEnd or Uncle Jessie. RearEnd does express his thanks for the hammie-downs as well, YHC’s checkbook does also!
Great work was done, lots of mumblechatter among the teams. Seeing the various ways PAX were carried, I am sure lead to some soreness afterward.
The Thang Part 2
Mini-Murph was clearly too easy, so in the remaining time a mosey was made to Charles St. 5 Burpees, 5 merkins, 5 squats were done at the bottom before heading up, where you add 5 more reps to each movement all the way to 20 max and then descend the ladder by subtracting 5 off on the way back down. Uncle Jessie made light work of this! RearEnd was exposed for doing half-burpees and accused of not knowing how to count because he was a homeschooler!
COT
NMS: Big numbers are great, attitudes were awesome, just lots of fun. Big thanks to Brut, Pothole, and a forgotten PAX who were on my son’s team. He loved it and talked about you guys and can’t wait to get back out! Thanks for being great examples to Him. Uncle Juggs and Alpo, were a little different story! Juggs is getting new jokes and we prayed for Alpo’s soul!
Hulk has smashed!
