Devotion: “Doing the Hard Thing”
Matthew 26:39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
I remember the first time Flossy introduced me to the “Deck of Death” workout. During that workout I did not think I was going to be able to finish the work and I started looking forward to the 2 and 3 cards to get a break. As I was preparing the workout for today I thought “How often do I do the same thing in my daily life?” In Christ’s example in the verse above He knew what was coming and HE still said “not as I will, but as you will”. Ooh how I fail at this so often. My words are often “Not Your will, but mine!”. I challenge the Pax as well as myself to take on the hard things each day with a passion and desire to honor and Glorify God!
