After multiple attempts at securing a Q for today’s BC to no avail, YHC decided to take it and have another go at the Starfish challenge. It’s been awhile and YHC didn’t have time to come up with another workout. So, the challenge was put out on Twitter the night before and 4 PAX came to wrestle with the Starfish. YHC rolled up a little later than usual and 2C was the only car in the parking lot. So, we though it was just going to be the two of us, which 2C was hoping that Unlce Jesse might have fartsacked for some Twitter entertainment. But, alas, two cars pulled up right on time and Uncle Jesse and Sugar hopped out right at 6. A quick description of the challenge was given since the other 3 had never done it before and we moseyed to the coupon cage.
Disclaimer given (or I might have forgotten this..but don’t tell anyone.)
Coupons were left outside of the cage to be used later and we moseyed to the roundhouse.
Starfish Challenge
Here’s how it goes. Start with the mountain climbers in the middle and every time you return to the middle from each spoke. After completing the mountain climbers, you run to the end of the spoke and complete the exercise. The first set is 25 reps of everything every time. The second set is 20 and so on through 5 reps.
Roundhouse – Australian mountain climbers counting both legs (YHC wasn’t sure if it was a both leg count or a right leg only count so we went with a both leg count)
Spoke 1 – Pull-ups
Spoke 2 – Jungle Boy Squats
Spoke 3 – Bear crawl up Flossy’s Hill, Big Boy Sit-ups at top, crabwalk down
Spoke 4 – Decline Merkins at Polly’s Pavilion
Spoke 5 – Chest Press
Time was called with 3 of the PAX getting through 4 complete rounds.

-It had been a little bit since the Starfish was attempted and YHC and Uncle Jesse think that it is definitely doable. We didn’t start until 6:08 and had completed 4 complete rounds. The next time we attempt it, we need to start at 6:00 on the dot or plan for that workout to start at 6:15 and end at 7:15.
-There is some debate as to who created this monster. When YHC took over as AOQ, the previous AOQ (the esteemed Polly), handed me the workout. I was under the impression that Flossy had created it but Uncle Jesse thought maybe Polly had. Although there was some debate if Polly would create something this difficult. (We love you Polly.)
-To YHC the one downside of this workout, especially with a small crowd, is that the PAX are all spread out and it is difficult to encourage PAX along so it becomes a mental battle with yourself. But, YHC does enjoy the intensity of the workout and looks forward to doing it again with a bigger turnout.
Until next time,
