It’s been a while since we last ran the Rabbit Chase race. This is a different format than your typical 5k and it gives everyone a shot to finish first. But most importantly, it encourages pax to run fast, push their limits, and hopefully PR while setting a baseline for the next time we run it. The format is different and while there are no official prizes or medals, it does give the opportunity for any pax, no matter their ability, to finish first.
Date: June 20, 2018
Time: 5:15 am in the Hobby Lobby parking lot
Who: All pax
Route: Starbucks 5k route with a slight modification at the end (will be explained at the beginning of the race)
Cost: $2 if you do not have a timing chip from the last Rabbit Chase
Here’s the setup:
- Pax signup by clicking here. The only information needed is your name, F3 name, estimated time to finish the 5k, and whether you already have a chip from the last race. That’s it, you’re signed up.
- On the day of the race, the pax with the largest estimated 5k time will take off at 05:15
- The next pax will start based on their estimated 5k time so that theoretically they will finish at the same time as the first pax.
- So on and so forth with the fastest pax running at the end of the line and trying to catch everyone else. In theory, everyone should finish at the same time.
- Example: Pax 1 submits at time of 45 minutes and starts at 05:15:00. Pax 2 submits a time of 43 minutes 10 seconds and starts at 05:16:50. Pax 3 submits a time of 40 minutes and starts at 05:20:00. If all pax hit their time, they should all finish at 06:00:00.
As mentioned above, this will be a chip timed race thanks to Tweeter (#tclaps). Everyone who is not injured and is available on June 20 needs to sign up. This is an excellent opportunity to push yourself. Everyone on the course (except for pax 1) will be chasing somebody and everyone (except the last pax to start) will be getting chased by somebody. That alone will make you faster. As always, 2nd F at Starbucks afterward.
Get signed up ASAP so Tweeter can get all of the information sorted out before the morning of the race! Race order will be posted at the start line. Can we have 40 pax making a mad dash for the finish line at one time? Let’s find out!
