11 pax showed up on another warm muggy October morning.  Around 71° and 100% humidity.  This was a slightly larger crowd than YHC had expected, but work was planned, and work was done with minimal modifications.  Disclaimer was given that this was a Spartan-centered workout and that if you needed to modify, then by all means do so.

WARMUP

15 burpees OYO
Indian run around the front of the school, through the student parking lot, to the back of the school where the buckets and coupons were waiting.

The THANG

2 buckets and 2 coupons available to be carried.

Pax rotate carrying a bucket (filled w/ ~50 lbs of sand) or a coupon (if needed to modify) from the sidewalk that goes to the back patio, to the bottom of the concrete monster, to the top of the concrete monster, down the stairs, up the stairs, and back to the start.

When no buckets are available, other pax AMRAP the following:

  • Run the bleachers of the stadium
  • 30 burpees
  • Bear crawl up the concrete monster
  • 20 merkins at the top
  • Run to the back patio
  • 20 box jumps
  • Rinse and repeat

All pax had at least one opportunity for the bucket brigade and most made through 2 rounds of the AMRAP

  • YHC set out the buckets and coupons prior to the workout in the back of the school.  Beano was the only one waiting when I made it back to the parking lot.  YHC got a few grumbles from the crowd when we suddenly stopped the Indian Run and there were buckets waiting on the side of the road.
  • 25 days until the Spartan.  YHC included the 30 burpees on purpose as we all will likely have to do some penalties.  I think this was an eye opener for several of us.  There’s a lot of work left to do and less than a month to do it.
  • The 50 lbs of sand in each bucket had settled pretty good by the end of the workout.  I think there’s enough room in the bucket to make each around 75 lbs now, which was the goal to start with.
  • Solid effort put forth by everyone this morning.  The humidity in the air sucked but everyone pushed through and got better.  Great way to start off the day.  Great work men!
