F3 Greenwood

Today, 45 PAX (3 FNG’s) came out to experience the second Rabbit Chase.  This event, as far as I know, is unique to F3 Greenwood.  Maybe another group somewhere  has attempted something similar.  But until we find out otherwise, we will assume this event was born and created in Greenwood.   F3Greenwood takes pride in doing things our own way sometimes.

The “Rabbit Chase” concept is easy.  You sign up by providing (1) your name and (2) your target “goal pace” for the weekly Starbucks 5K.   Then, we stagger the start.  The slower runners will go first and the faster runners will start later.   In theory, if everyone runs close to their goal pace, there should be a mad scramble to the finish line.  The first Rabbit Chase was a huge success with many PAX wanting a second chance to PR or to test their improvement.  For this Rabbit Chase, we had our own Tweeter provide us with some technology.  It was chip timed.  A big thank you to Tweeter for letting us use his equipment and getting that set up.  Thanks to Pot Hole, who provided a generator for some power, and for Polly (who is still on the IR) who was the official starter.    Together, this made for an awesome morning.

Although YHC didn’t run today, it was wonderful to watch.  This  morning embodied what F3 is all about.  We had 45 guys wake up before the sun rose.  The ages in today’s race ranged from a 14 year old to some folks in their mid-50s.  We had some experienced runners in our group but we also had some guys who had never ran a 5K.  We had some guys who have been with F3 since its’ inception to Greenwood in May of 2015 and we had three FNG’s, who posted today for the very first time.   We had guys that have shed TONS of weight thanks to F3, yet we had some guys that are just getting started on that journey.    It was awesome to watch how all these men put in work together,  cheered for one another, encouraged one another, supported one another, laughed with one another and then, gathered together and prayed with one another.  After that, we had awesome fellowship, with good FREE Starbucks coffee (see, below).

It just don’t get much better than that.

Sugar (40 & Under improvement)

Posh (41 & over improvement)

REMEMBER, if you haven’t paid Tweeter $2.00 for the “chip” you used today, please do so.  And, be sure to keep the chip, because we will use it for the NEXT Rabbit Chase, which is already being planned.  Several ideas are floating about.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – Camp-out is this weekend.  Sign up online with the link that Boy George shared, or just send him a message.

PRAYERS: Our prayers for today are for Spud and his family and the family of Hamp Warner.  Let’s all hold them in our prayers.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST – A HUGE thanks to Starbucks for providing FREE coffee for our event and the prizes.  They’ve taken care of us for a long time, so it was nice they had a “runner appreciation day” (as they called it).  I hope you tipped them well.

Until next time,

Judge Judy
