F3 Greenwood

If I should say so myself, TheRabbitChase was a hit. What started as a wouldn’t it be neat, I wonder how it would work idea, turned out to go off without many, if any, hitches and seemed to be a hit among the pax. Even if MrBean couldn’t figure out why we weren’t all starting at 0515.

All pax will run the Starbucks 5k route (actually more like 3.2 miles than the standard 3.1)…but do the harder thing.

Each pax pre-submitted a PR/goal time that they wanted to complete the route in. Starting times were assigned with the slowest submitted time going first and the fastest submitted time going last.

In theory, all pax would end at the finish line at pretty much the same time. Also, this format should encourage pax to do the infamous “Redline” approach that many F3Greenwood runner prescribe to…whether it be to stay in front of the guy behind you or to pass guys in front of you.

Below is a chart that shows each runner with his submitted time, actual time and difference between the two.

As you can see above, 14 out of 24 runners, went faster than their submitted times. The other 10 were awfully close and had also submitted some pretty lofty goals.

Fastest overall performance of the day goes to UncleJesse who completed the course in 21m39s…smoking

Even though it doesn’t completely show in the numbers, Alpo took home the Biggest Sandbagger Award.

Major #tclaps to JudgeJudy who had the initial idea of TheRabbitChase format. Also, without his effort before (setting up times) and during (getting runners started, tracking finishing times, etc) this event wouldn’t have happened. Also, thanks to Polly who helped JudgeJudy with the race day work.

Go ahead and mark your calendars for July 12…the next running of TheRabbitChase. Hope to see some more fast times.

****Original ask was for pax to submit a total time estimate for course completion…some pax instead submitted a pace per mile goal. Because the course was slightly longer than abnormal 5k, there may be a few pax who met that goal but are represented as missing their goal on the above sheet, i.e. Flossy****
