Way back when, a “challenge” style workout, Fury’s Revenge, was created at Fury and scheduled to be run the first Tuesday of each month. Then the Shipyard created Battleship to be run on the first Saturday of each month. The Epicenter didn’t want to be left out so, Starfish was created. After the decision was made to rotate Saturday’s workout to all 4 AOs, some discussion ensued about running the challenge style workouts at each AO. That meant Terrapin needed one. Shaggy and Pusher had previously agreed to CoQ this Saturday at Terrapin, but YHC decide to hijack the Q and come up with a “rough” draft (rough turned out to be a literal description of the workout) version of a challenge workout for Terrapin.

So after consulting with Uncle Jesse (the AOQ), here’s what we came up with:

Grab 2 Coupons and head to the Gazebo, or Turtle Shell

50 reps of each:
Curls
Goblet Squats
Overhead Press
Alpo’s

Farmers Carry around Playground#1
10 Box Jump Burpees in the Turtle Shell (Gazebo)

Repeat work
Farmers Carry around Playground#2
10 Box Jump Burpees in the Turtle Shell

Repeat work
Farmers Carry around Playground#3
10 Box Jump Burpees in the Turtle Shell
Round 1 complete

Decrease reps on the coupon work by 10 each subsequent round. (Box Jump Burpees stay at 10)

  • Everyone completed one full round and was working on round 2. Needless to say, modifications will come. Tclaps to the dynamic duo of Baby Blu and Pusher who lead the way.

I was impressed by the effort given by all the Pax. It’s easy to get into a negative mindset when you hear the Q give ridiculous instructions, therefore making it hard to commit to full effort. But not this group! I saw nothing but 100% effort throughout the entire workout.

Was also impressed with Uncle Jesse. He tweaked his back getting ready for the workout, but still posted not knowing if he would be able to do the work. Once he ran from Howard’s (with Pusher) and his back wasn’t feeling any better, instead of going home he chose to run a few miles and still got in a decent workout.

It was great having Mulligan post again. It’s been too long. Also great to have Duder post with us. Impressive to see a young man giving up Saturday morning sleep to come workout with a bunch of “old” guys. No disrespect intended Baby Blu…

Thanks to DC for donating some Coupons. These coupons must have come from the coast. They appear to have some shell particles mix in to create a great feeling as the edge rubbed against your lower legs during the Farmer’s Carry. Nothing like a little coupon rash to show that work was done.

Recover was called at 0700 and we returned all coupons to the stack.
