As I was looking at the list of Hero WOD’s to see what would be the call for #RED Friday, I saw that we had not done “Hansen” since March of 2016. So that would be it. “Hansen” is a Hero WOD that is named in honor of Marine Staff Sgt Daniel Hansen who died on February 14th in Farah Providence, Afghanistan when an IED he was working on detonated.

Inspirational words from Meter: I was channel surfing a few nights ago and came across a show titled “Selection”. The premise of this show is that a group of regular people go through some of the Special Forces training to see if they have what it takes to make it. The particular episode I was watching was about integrity. The instructors and set up a course for the recruits to run with specific instructions. They were told it didn’t matter how long it took to complete the course, but they were to follow all instructions given and complete 100% of the reps using proper form. Unknown by the recruits, cameras were set up and each station where work was to be done to monitor their work. While at the Burpee station (They were instructed to do 50 Burpees) the recruit that was given the class leader role cut the reps by 2. He completed 48 Burpees and then left the station. 2! Not 20, not 40, but 2! By cutting short the work by 2 Burpees he only saved himself approximately 5 – 10 seconds of pain. But by doing that he cost himself a great deal more. He lost the respect of his instructors and the respect of his classmates. All too often in life we look for short cuts to get somewhere quicker. Whether it be at a workout, work, or at home. But if the short cut taken costs us our integrity it’s not worth it. Make sure everything you do in life is done with the utmost integrity. That’s one character trait that you have full control over and once you lose it, it’s very hard to get it back.

NMS:
• I was the second to arrive this morning and as I pulled into the parking lot it appeared that Juggernaut’s vehicle was empty. Naturally I figured he was getting in a few warm-up laps. Then as a couple others showed one asked “Should we wake Juggernaut up?” He had laid the seat back and was getting a few warm-up zzz’s.
• As we began the Mosey to the coupon depository we saw a set of head lights pulling into the parking lot. It was Uncle Jesse. Last to show up… First to complete the WOD… Yep, everything is as it normally is
• #Tclaps to Mr. Bean for making his “LONG OVERDUE” return to Red Friday
• #Tclaps to Dixie Chick for challenging himself to attend all AO’s at least once a month. And this was his last chance to hit Red Friday. Also, a bid thanks to Boy George who stepped up to take DC’s Q over on the hills so he could post to Red Friday
• Surprisingly I don’t recall the Big Boy Sit-ups creating any gas leaks as they often do. Maybe some developed a delayed reaction and leaked a little gas later on that morning. We may never know
As always…
Until the next Q
MM is out
