Here it is Christmas Eve and while most folks are watching Ralphie’s dad adore his fra-g-lay lamp, YHC is locked in on “13 Hours” while typing. It makes me thankful that there are men trained and ready to do what is necessary in even the worst of situations. Reminds me of someone else…
Jesus stepped into a pretty bad situation. Even as a child, status quo leaders wanted him dead. As an adult, they couldn’t wait to kill him if only their cowardly hearts would have let them. Yet he redeemed us all. Worst situation possible. Best leader ever. And that is why we tell the story.
Jesus came to give us the blueprint. He never faltered, never strayed from the course. We shouldn’t either. That’s why we train.
A workout is not just something to make your body better. It sharpens the mind. It teaches you that, when the going gets tough, you can find another gear and push through. That’s why we put out endlessly and never quit.
Jesus never quit and continues to stick with us long passed when He had every reason to quit.

Many prayer requests today. Many going through holidays without a family member for the first time, whether by choice or not. Rocky did not get good news at the doctor. May others. We should be girding each other up daily in prayer. Make it happen.
The struggles are real.
YHC noted today something that has become a bit commonplace around our workouts. I have been hesitant to say anything for fear of angering some folks. But, after seeing that it is not just me, I feel it bears saying.
Many guys are coming out and not staying focused on the task at hand. Walking around, doing their own thing and wasting the Q’s time. It’s time for that to stop. We don’t get up before the rest of the world, put time into planning a workout and agreeing to commit the time and effort to other tasks associated with the Q so guys can do what they want. You may not like the Q. You may think his workout is stupid. But if you post then you owe it to that man do give it your all. Period. When you see your brothers suffering and you choose not to give your full effort you are disrespecting their effort.
The United States Military has the the foremost leadership training program in the entire world. The first thing that is taught in military leadership is followership. Can you follow the lead of another? If you can’t then you will not be a good leader. It’s time for guys to start stepping up again and stop treating workouts like a Bridge Club. We are there to work, to sharpen our minds as well as our bodies and, ultimately, to become better leaders. That cannot happen unless we become better followers.
Merry Christmas
