YHC was ready to mail to mail it in Monday and dreams of the fartsack danced in his head until MeterMaid, who is handling the Nantan duties while Flossy is away, tweeted out the Qs for today. Not only was YHC’s name on the list, but there it was, pretty as you please, next to Fury. YHC would be expected to bring another level of pain and intensity at Greenwood’s baddest AO.
YHC has posted across this fine litttle community and keeps seeing a recurring theme at workouts – Dora. Fury has also gotten into the rut of the Fury loop. YHC wanted to break the mold so decided to explore a new area.
It’s 27* and it’s 0515. I am not a professional, but let’s get some work done.
Mosey over to the pull-up bars and dip station.
- SSH x 30 IC just to get the blood flowing a little bit
- 25 pull-ups
- 25 dips
- Break it up however you need to, just get it done.
Mosey down Fury Rod to the entrance to old Merrywood and do 50 LBCs.
Mosey over to the old Blockbuster building in the KMart shopping center.
Parking lot suicide #1
- 5 burpees in the no parking zone in front of the old Blockbuster video
- 10 monkey humpers at each of six light poles in suicide fashion, stopping at the last light pole where there are some stairs leading to the now defunct Ruby Tuesday
Crawl bear up the stairs three times each
Parking lot suicide #2
- 10 merkins by the stairs
- 10 squats at each of six light poles
One more crawl bear up the stairs because it was really a lot of fun. Wanted to do more, but we were out of time.
Mosey back to the flag
There were two things on strong display today – teamwork and sisu. During the crawl bear, it was impossible to see exactly where you were on the stairs and it was dang tough going up them that way. I heard continuous chatter as I made my way up the first time. “You’re about halfway.” “Just a couple of more steps.” “Next step will be down.” “You’re almost there. Don’t stop now.” For me, team is EVERYTHING. I learned this lesson in the military and understand how important it is to be able to trust the men around me. It really is everything.
Sisu is the Finnish word for indomitable spirit. That was on display in abundance as everyone tackled the suicides in a yuge parking lot and the crawl bear up the stairs. It also showed itself as we ran up Fury Road, exhausted and worn down from a grueling workout. I’m pretty sure my breathing could be heard across town at the Shipyard (maybe Sugar can confirm). Every time I wanted to stop and walk (#NotARunner, remember?) I would look over and MeterMaid would slow up just a bit and run right next to me. I don’t know how he knew I needed that little bit of encouragement, but I was glad to get it. Everyone pushed hard all the way through the end with no quit. Love it.
We also put the EH on Inspector to Q. His VQ is 12/15. Be there for what I am sure will be a nasty snotwoggler from a really fit dude.
#TClaps to SeatDown who finally made it back to the pace where his F3 journey began, albeit with the Shipyard flag he was supposed to deliver to Sugar this morning. Told you that you could handle the Fury, brother.
