With the numbers at Terrapin being low 2 out of the last 3 weeks and no recruiting by YHC, I was thinking we may have a small crowd to work with this morning. 5:04 rolls around and 0 Pax in the parking lot. 5:05 rolls around and that number increases to 1. 5:10 rolls around and the number jumps to 2. Well Duggar… we can always hurry of the Hustle. Let’s go.
Conditions: low 40’s and a little damp, strange smell in the air. Not sure if it’s Alpo or smoke rolling in from N.C.

*As Duggar arrives YHC is getting out of the car and Duggar says (Paraphrasing of course) “Don’t get out yet, we have plenty of time”. At the time I was thinking he was just delaying the inevitable of getting out in the cold. (Little did I know at that time, there was no reason to get out, because we would soon be hurrying over to Hustle.)
*Duggar mentioned that it had been a while since we had crossed paths and I agreed. Partly due to me being out of town for a week and partly due to Duggar’s confession that he had become a little lazy. I too confessed to not posting while I was Down Range and admitted it was nice to get a chance to “sleep in”. Yes, now since F3, sleeping until 8:00 is considered sleeping in for me.
*This brings me to my soap box (I usually avoid it, because it’s a slippery slope). What Duggar and I spoke of, with getting lazy, is an easy trap to fall into. Morning #1 rolls around and you say to yourself, “Self… you ain’t got your A game today. Roll back over and start back tomorrow.” While you struggle with this decision on day one, morning #2 rolls around and that decision gets a little bit easier. The guilt of it doesn’t seem to hang around as long as it did yesterday. Morning #3 rolls around and the decision is a lot easier. Morning #4 and you realize you didn’t even set your alarm.
All too often in life the things that appear to be good at the time can have a negative long term affect on us. Like the can of Coke during your 10:00 break. Man that thing taste good, but does it become a habit where you crave the Coke every day at 10:00 whether you’re thirsty or not? That Snickers bar during your 3:00 break. Man that thing sure does taste good, but does it become a habit? Sleeping in on a Monday morning. Man it sure did feel good to sleep in, but does it become a habit? Of course there is nothing wrong with indulging yourself with the Coke, Snickers Bar, or extra day of rest from time to time. But we must be very careful that we don’t let these things become habitual and have a negative long term affect on us.
First of all let me say that EVERYONE must listen to their body. Just as it’s not healthy to sleep in and skip workouts, it’s also not healthy to over do it. So if your mind and body is telling you that you need rest, then by all means, rest. Your body will tell you when you need to rest. But that being said, we must make sure it’s our body telling us we need rest versus that little devil on our shoulder telling us to be lazy.
*F3 is a peer led workout group, meaning each one of us plays a vital roll in the success of F3 Greenwood. This doesn’t just mean the Nantan, AOQ’s, or WOD Q’s. This means every member. When someone decides to Q a workout there’s a lot that goes into it. First, you make a commitment to the Pax that you are going to show up and do your best to lead the workout. Secondly, you take the time to design a workout that will test the Pax and allow them to start their day off right. Thirdly, you commit to writing the Backblast that describes what all went on. This is just a few of the things that come with the commitment to Q. So, if you are looking for another reason to be motivated to post to a workout when you are not feeling you have your A game or you don’t want to get out in the cold or rain, think about the Q. He’s made a commitment to you and invested his time in helping make you better. Also think about the 2nd guy who posts. Don’t let him be in the uncomfortable situation of the 2 man BOM. There’s many benefits to posting to a workout. Some are benefit you as an individual, both physically and mentally. Then there are also benefits from you posting that others get to receive. We often refer to Proverbs 27:17 Iron Sharpening Iron, so one person sharpens another. You committing to posting helps sharpen the Pax beside you. It also shows your support of the Q and the time he has devoted to you.
*So, all that being said, put and EH on someone who hasn’t posted lately. And if that someone is you, EH yourself. As the weather gets colder it will be that much easier to fall victim of the Fartsack. Need a little extra accountability? Throw your HC out on Slack or Twitter. Who knows… your HC may cause someone else to HC.
*Tclaps to Sugar for letting a couple of Turtle Heads converge for a little Hustle
As always…
Until the next Q,
MM is out.
