So a new Monday Boot camp AO was launched today in beautiful Greenwood SC. YHC mentioned a few weeks back that he thought a Monday boot camp would interest several PAX. I was thinking we would simply tack a Monday workout onto an existing AO. Little did I know that some movement had already been made to secure the Cambridge Park as a possible future AO, and thus Terrapin was born.
16 PAX decided to give the Terrapin launch a try. Based on the new day of the week and physical location of the AO, I was hoping to draw from all existing AOs to have a nice mix of PAX. That seemed to hold true as we had regulars from the Epicenter, Shipyard and Fury. It was nice to perform work with folks I don’t see as often. We even had a few drive-bys from the PAX posting at the Fountain Out n Back. (This happened during the soon to be mentioned hill work, so I can’t begin to name who these fine folks were. I was afraid to look up for fear of certain death by falling down said hill). I know Flossy gave us a late drive by during our extended ab session.
Here is how it went down:
Mosey to the hill (from this point forward known as “Franklin’s Tower”) near Cambridge Avenue for hill work.
Warmup
25 SSH OYO
Hill Dora 1, 2, 3
Work is cumulative. Partner 1 works at the top of Franklin’s Tower, Partner 2 makes his way to bottom, performs 10 monkey humpers, then makes his way to the top. Switch. I say “makes his way” as opposed to run/mosey, bc Franklin’s Tower is no ordinary hill. The PAX were using various methods to make the descent and subsequent ascent.
Cumulative Work Performed
100 Merkins
200 Plank Jacks
300 Jungle Boi Squats (crowd pleaser)
Plank for early finishers
Mosey to Gazebo for some OYO work
25 Burpee Box Jumps
25 Dips
20 Burpee Box Jumps
20 Dips
(Early finishers incorporated additional sets of dips)
Boy George leads PAX on a lap around our newly christened AO and back to grassy area near the flag.
Ab Work
15 to 1
15 Big Boi Situps, 15 Russian twists, 15 V-ups
Repeat but 14 reps on round 2. Work your way down a rep on each subsequent round.
Time was called after 10 minutes of work.
COT/BOM
- Thanks to Meter Maid for bringing the Red Friday flag today. A Terrapin flag is currently being designed/constructed.
- Great turnout for first day. Hopefully we keep the numbers at a solid level.
- I encourage everyone to sign up on the Q sheet. This AO is for everyone, embrace it. That said, the AOQ expects this AO to bring an intense workout on a regular basis.
- A lot of options at Terrapin. From hills, to burpee box jumps, to coupon work, this AO has a lot of room to evolve and push the PAX.
- Franklin’s Tower is STEEP! As always, remember that safety comes first. When designing or performing a workout, do not put yourself or the PAX at risk. No shame in modifying as needed.
