We all love to celebrate overt, extraordinary acts of heroism. We do it here in Greenwood every Friday and YHC can barely stand it if he misses it. But what about everyday acts of heroism? YHC felt obligated to share a revelation with the 15 PAX at the Epicenter on Day 2 of #HellWeek.

– YHC loves the story of Sparta and the 300. There is a particular story that YHC is fascinated with – the story of Leonidas killing a messenger of Xerxes after the messenger insults Leonidas’ wife. The messenger essentially tells Leonidas that he should shut his wife up for speaking and Leonidas kicks him into a pit. Back then, you didn’t kill messengers, but Spartans were very progressive for the time in their treatment of women. In fact, Queen Gorgo advised Leonidas on matters of state, as did all queens of Sparta. Gorgo also advised her father as a young girl on multiple occasions. So, what does that mean for us? YHC is of the opinion that just about any jackhole with a ring on his left ring finger is willing to literally die for his wife and kids. That’s easy. But will we, as #AcceleratingMen take it a step further and LIVE for our families? Will we live a life of service to them as we deny our self-centered nature? This is hard and, unfortunately, not many men are doing it. It’s up to us to lead the way because we know better.
– YHC clipped off a few reps from the original 300 workout led by Chaser at Blitz in F3Columbia for the purpose of utilizing the extra time to encourage the PAX in their leadership. We discussed consistency, what YHC believes to be the bedrock of leadership. We discussed the need for our children to see their fathers as men of integrity (including on taxes!). We discussed not falling into the trap of #Third500 where many men begin to abandon their wives and their families in search of a solution to #SadClownSyndrome. Fortunately, we have that solution. We have been #FreedToLead.

– Polly wanted to have a LBAC contest. YHC did 5 extra LBACs in reverse, which discombobulated the PAX greatly. Remember that consistency thing?
– During the second set, we discovered why Polly’s M has been so disappointed and why Flossy’s M was always smiling.
– Meatloaf claims to have burned out his clutch, his shoulder and all his gears. But he somehow managed to finish the workout in spite of his great love of the burpee. #TClaps
– Sour questioned some of YHC’s research on when the human body is actually too tired to continue. He also claimed he was dead while moseying back to the flag. That is the first time YHC has ever seen a dead man running.
– #Mumblechatter was present and lively until we hit the #Third500 of the workout. But the PAX finished strong, probably due to the Nan’tan’s constant encouragement to keep pushing. #LeadingFromTheFront
– #Kotters to Cyclone who posted at the #BigBang and has not returned until today. Glad to have you back in the gloom, brother!
– YHC was impressed with the turnout of men for Day 2 of #HellWeek, especially with the much anticipated return of UncleJesse at Fury and Alpo serving up block-infested #DRP at Shipyard.
– Numbers are creeping back up – keep EHing FNGs and PAX who have fallen to the wayside. Let’s get them back out in the gloom.
– Always a pleasure to return to the Epicenter where it all started and to receive the warm greetings of Polly, who, as Yankee as he is, has a huge heart and is a genuine friend.
