In spite of Sugar’s assessment last Saturday that there would be no more cool mornings, five PAX found exactly that when they showed up at #Hustle for some trackless sprint work. YYHC was admittedly concerned about the ability to conduct a track workout without a track. But, aside from one minor instance of speeding, all was well and work was done on opening day of Jug’s Hell Week.
Conditions
A brisk 47° – perfect for some sprint work!
Disclaimer
YHC is not a professional, but has recently caved to the notion that he is a #runner.

NakedMan Moleskin
– Fortunately, YHC remembered the disclaimer. 20 steps into the warm up lap, Benedict was perplexed by Pacer’s presence behind him on a run, got going a little too fast (maybe) and discovered the hidden location of a speed bump. The tuck-and-roll at the end was a thing of beauty and mad Evel Knievel give a little nod from Upstairs.
– Running backward is not much fun.
– There is no substitution for a track. Especially not a speed-bump laden turn-about fraught with curves in various directions. This caused some confusion during the Tabata.
– Running backward is not much fun.
– Somehow, everyone (YHC included) interpreted “slow acceleration to top speed over a 20-second period” to mean “all-out sprint.” So much for #Stride work.
– Running backward is not much fun.
– Consensus is that #Hustle works. MeterMaid was once a jogger and is now a full-fledged speed-demon. YHC went from 10 minute miles on long distance runs to under 9 minute miles after a couple of months of posting at #Hustle once a week. YHC is now officially a runner, pending mathematical review by BabyBlu. Give it a shot.
– Day one of Hell Week is in the books and only 4 PAX were brave enough to take what YHC was dishing out. Will the Epicenter be bare tomorrow? Probably since what YHC has up his sleeve is too tough for most PAX.
Aye! Jugz Out!
