Yesterday I mentioned I was struggling getting back into the swing of things related to working out. Fortunately, I’m committed to getting myself out of that “rut”. The Killers dropped a new album a few weeks ago with a song “Rut.” Let’s face it, we all get in ruts from time to time, whether it’s F3, work, family etc. It’s important for us to help each other get out of these ruts.
10 folks gave Red Friday a go this morning. I was happy to see a big number after a somewhat lower number on my last red Friday Q. I blame Meatloaf for that because he figured out that Mogadishu Mile was on tap and gave everyone a warning and thus scared everyone away.
I stayed relatively quiet leading up to Red Friday with respect to any hints about the work, but secretly I was trying to find a workout that everyone could complete, didn’t involve coupons or pullups, and had some running. I ended up settling on Maupin. This is a workout I perform at home from time to time because it is tough, usually takes greater than 30 mins (minimum time for a workout to “count”), and can be done anywhere.
It went down like this:
Maupin
4 rounds for time
800 meter run
49 push-ups
49 big boi situps
49 air squats

- Great work by everyone
- This one is tougher than it looks. You can burn out on the pushups, and starting up the hills after the squats is tough.
- Good comradery out there today. Folks really pushing each other.
- Playlist was 90 alternative. At one point a very death metal song came on and we were forced to skip, but otherwise a solid mix of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Offspring, etc.
- Hulk with an excellent prayer to lead us out
