Much has been made of the “East Side” in pop culture over the last 60 years or so. “East Side Story” is the name of episodes for both Will & Grace and Beverly Hills, 90210 (easy there, Brandon; don’t mess up that hair). Louis Auchincloss wrote about the East Side and Bob Seger sang about it way back in 1966 before Moby recorded a more, er, modern track poking fun at the East Side (and the North Side, South Side and West Side) in the mid-90s.
But the East Side became legendary when George and Weezy bid adieu to their neighbors Archie and Edith and moved on up back in 1975.
With just YHC and Tootsie Roll in attendance, YHC made the audible to move the workout on over to the East Side — of the AO, that is.
THE THANG:
Mosey over to the backside of Emerald Baptist Church. Crawl Bear up the back stairs.
Mosey down Laurel to the Food Lion parking lot. Moving across parking lot, stop at every row for 10 merkins on the way down. On the way back, stop at every row for 10 v-ups.
Mosey to the old Salvation Army driveway. Sprint around driveway, 10 squats. Sprint back around to other side, 9 squats. Repeato back and forth down to 1 squat.
Mosey to Cookout. 21-15-9 dips and incline merkins.
Mosey to bottom of Fury Road and regroup, then attack the hill all the way to the pull-up bars.
Max effort round of pull-ups
3.2 miles covered. Nice.
Mosey over to flag to count, name, pray
NMM:
TootsieRoll said he had never run all way up Fury Road without stopping to walk. Today, he ran all the way up and all the way over to the pull-up bars. Aye!
There would have been more mumblechatter, but there was only two of us. It’s pretty neat getting to really know a guy when it’s just two. But more men need #TheSolution so #ABH!
#TClaps to the Grand Poobah who answered the bell — a very last minute bell — to get some letters cut the Birmingham flag! Appreciate it, brother!
