F3 Greenwood

Alpo’s dongers hadn’t been touched in some time [insert wide eye surprised emoji here] so I knew I had to build a bridge and temporarily get over my fear of the spiders. I psyched myself out pretty early.

0340 – tossing and turning; mentally wrestling with the task at hand

0440 – arrive to Fury for a little light fumigation with some pyrethroids by way of Raid Ant and Roach Killer spray

0459 – one minute warning and disclaimer given before heading to freshly sprayed spider houses (herinafter referred to as SH)

NMM

-Running with SH is tough. They start out about 4-5 lbs each and grow into 20 lbs by the end of the hour. After the first mosey, there was no way to hold them comfortably. Torture for the forearms and shoulders.

-Foreclosure has quickly caught on to the F3 culture and threw some high quality shade Crayola’s direction. Below is a brief excerpt from the dialogue:

*Crayola [about halfway through the warm up] –  “you know, some of us have to work today”

*Foreclosure [without missing a beat] – “that’s right, you do have to color today don’t you?”

*The rest of us – ROFL

-Crayola shared a story about when he was bit by a spider when he was younger. He can now climb buildings and shoot webs from his wrists. Or something like that, I didn’t hear the whole thing.

-Snakes vs. spiders. Representation from both sides of the phobia fence.

-I also have a fear of owls, so hopefully we don’t ever have to worry about them nesting in the coupon pile. I don’t think Raid has that brand of spray yet (but I’m not above trying).

-Some complaints about the Raid odor emanating from the SH during the work. If you would’ve seen some of the creatures that crawled out when I sprayed them, you would be grateful for that smell.

-“Don’t Q it if you can’t do it”. I remember someone saying that when I first joined this brotherhood and after noodling it around for about 3 years I can say that I respectfully disagree. I posit that BECAUSE you can’t do it, you should Q it. Workouts should be challenging and incorporate stretch goals. Not good at burpees? Q a bootcamp with a hundred of them. Pull up form not great? Work on it by actually working on it, not avoiding it. Qing puts you in the spotlight and you’re automatically cognizant of your form and rep count. Make the work tough and dial back from there, if you absolutely need to. And if you absolutely need to, don’t be ashamed. We did more in one hour than most will do all day, modifications included. I, for one, do not wake up at 3:45 AM to spray bricks with roach killer just so I can have an ‘easy day’. After all, some of us have to color today…

Respectfully yours,

Inspector
