F3 Greenwood

Sometimes Q’s can overcomplicate things when trying to develop a new and interesting workout. So to keep from overcomplicating things, YHC decided to employ the Keep It Simple Stupid theory. So in doing that I came up with 4 exercises to use for the main portion of the workout.

9 men (including 1 FNG) posted to see how simple things would be.

Conditions: somewhere around mid 50’s. Springtime is here and perfect temps for working out.

Disclaimer: Given with 1 minute to go time and as the Fury AOQ was seen turning into the driveway.

Warm-up:

SSH x25 IC (started as the Fury AOQ was procuring the shovel flag from the back of his vehicle and planting it in its normal resting place)
Mountain Climbers x20 IC
Cut the Grass x15 IC

The Meat:

Perform the following at each stop as we mosey around the block:

10 Bonnie Blaire’s (count 1 leg)
20 Merkins
30 Big Boy Sit-Ups

Location #1: Warm-up site
Location #2: Fork in the road at driveway entrance
Location #3: Corner of Laurel & Merrywood Dr.
Location #4: Grace St. Intersection
Location #5: Dentist Office Entrance
Location #6: Fire Department Entrance
Location #7: Bottom of Junior
Location #8: Light Pole at top of Junior (the one with no light)
Location #9 Bottom of Junior
Location #10: Light Pole at top of Junior (the one with no light)
That’s right. We did a little Rinse and Repeat here because the 1st was so much fun.
*Curve Ball: 5 Burpees at each light pole on Murderers’ Row (72 Bypass)
Location #11: Fury Road
Mosey up Fury road stopping at the entrance to Merrywood for the Bonnie Blairs, 2nd entrance for the merkins (actually the 2nd 2nd entrance), and then the 4th entrance for the Big Boys
Location #12: Shovel Flag

NMS:
* Things got started this weekend when I received a text from Duggar asking if it would be appropriate to bring an FNG to Fury Tuesday. I thought and replied “of course it would be”. Then I thought to myself “I hope he’s either a really good friend (maybe if their are good enough friends this won’t destroy the friendship) or a friend Duggar wouldn’t mind losing contact with”, because bringing a friend to Fury for his 1st F3 workout will surely test it.
* Great numbers this morning. Not only at Fury but all other AOs too. It’s nice to see the guys getting back out. But 30 is not where we want to stop. Let’s get back in the 40’s then the 50’s.
* Much humor is made of the way I get things started for the warm-up exercises. You say tomato, I say tomato. You say starting position, I say exercise position. You say begin, I say exercise. They say consistency is a good thing and in this area, I’m constantly different. So that must mean it’s a good thing.
* I think Meatloaf really enjoyed the 3 main exercises I chose for this mornings workout. Especially since we didn’t get enough of them at Terrapin yesterday. So much so, that at each pain station he couldn’t wait to get started, so he would get a head start. That type of enthusiasm is contagious.
* When Bonnie Blairs were first called we went from hearing “Here’s an exercise the we don’t do enough of”, to hearing “Here’s an exercise that we do too many of”.
* We definitely have a bunch of studs posting at Fury. 4 or 5 guys consistently fought for the lead position.
* We probably set a record for the longest naming of an FNG. You can tell we’re out of practice.
* Who knew employing the K.I.S.S. theory to a workout would turn into the K.I.S.S. of death? Well, maybe Alpo did. He made the call yesterday as he tweeted about the up coming workout at Fury.
