There’s nothing like a warm December morning. What better way to spend it then doing some crazy stuff at Fury. With the new year approaching fast I had to get in one more Q while I had the chance. I somehow convinced the group to throw on some weighted vests the night before, but honestly it didn’t take much convincing. Here is how it went.
4:59- Disclosure, and some folks are still rolling up. DC and Alpo went off to do their own thing.
5:00- Here. We. Go!!!
Warmup- 5 pull-ups, 10 merkins, 15 squats x3
We then picked up a single bucket, and headed to Lake Fury.
That Thang- one pax (which was given the title ‘Bucket Man’) carries the bucket around Lake Fury while the others run around and lap Bucket Man. As the pack of crazy vested behemoths run to catch Bucket Man, they do 3 burpees every time the EMOM timer goes off. (Yeah, we brought that thing out). Once Bucket Man is caught by all pax, he chooses any exercise and all pax does 10 reps of that exercise. A new pax then becomes Bucket Man, and we repeat the cycle. We started with the EMOM set at 1min, but it was adjusted to 2 mins. I forgot how far a lap around Lake Fury was.
Once we all got to be Bucket Man, we made our way back to the pull-up bars (still doing our burpee EMOM) and took turns doing sets of 3 strict pull-ups.

When planning today’s workout I had next years Spartan Races in mind. The bucket carry is probably my least favorite obstacle. If I’ve got to get better at it I might as well do so with other people.
It amazes me how easily influenced some of these guys are. Call us crazy, but I don’t think you’ll find many people that would wake up in the early hours of the day to run around a body of water and doing burpees while wearing a weighted vest. I can guarantee you that everyone who participated got better today.
