F3 Greenwood

Memorial Day brings with it many things, the unofficial start of Summer, prior years spent with loved ones, burgers, and brats, and beer.  Hopefully we all have our liberties, our freedoms, and our blessings at the forefront of our thoughts and actions.  It’s important to know that without the sacrifices of the brave men and women of our Armed Forces we might not have the privilege of such holiday memories. Memorial Day means a lot of different things to each of us.  One event that has been apart of my Memorial Day for the last 3 years is performing Michael Murphy’s favorite workout.  The workout that has been renamed for him posthumously as a way to honor his life and subsequently his death. In Greenwood we decided to close all the other AOs and converge upon Terrapin to pay our respects.  This is what happened.

Prayers for the families of those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  Prayers for those protecting our freedoms.

  • Bad weather doesn’t keep the pax from posting!  Glad to see everyone out and getting after even with the rain constantly coming down upon us.
  • Some folks did strict pull ups, others jumped and kipped, and still others found there work by performing rows.  It doesn’t matter your physical prowess, just get out and get to work.
  • UJ led the way and then got punked by his M.  “If you’re doing it that fast, you need to be wearing a vest.”
  • The Ruckers showed up and rocked their miles with rucks.  Glad to see them participating with the rest of us.  Hopefully we can keep them coming back to the other AOs at least once or twice a week.
  • TClaps to Hulk and Jugs for not only performing the Murph, but finishing it off with a 12 mile ruck around town.  Wow!
  • TClaps to the guys that rocked the Murph in a vest, and those that performed it unpartitioned.  It’s not easy, but it is doable as long as you keep after it.
  • TClaps to DC and Sunshine for posting in the rain broken and still getting after it.
  • Lots of good mumblechatter going around.  The music was some of the best that TRav has ever heard.  He said so himself.
  • JuicyFruit was there and did the work, but for some reason didn’t get a time posted.  Not sure what happened, but this opens an opportunity to post at REDFriday and perfect the art of finding the time it took to complete some of the most ridiculously difficult workouts we do.
  • What’s up with ALL the breakfast spots being closed!??!  Next year someone needs to bring a grill and griddle.

I’m really glad that everyone shook off the rainy day blues and post.  It’s an honor to work with men that feel the need to continue recognize all those that have died defending our rights.  I hope everyone enjoyed the work.  See ya next year!
