F3 Greenwood

Yesterday was the third Anniversary of F3 Greenwood. 37 pax gathered at Starbucks for a little rucking and running. Most guys ran the traditional 5K route. We will officially celebrate on Saturday with the running-infused bootcamp activity we are calling the Cannonball Run. The teams have been selected, and the mumble chatter will only grow in volume until one team walks away with the winning honors.

The Thang: men emerged from cars of various types that filled a parking lot in the heart of Greenwood, SC. We ran. We rucked. We got better. We were named. We were strengthened by our brotherhood. And we prayed.

NMM:

YHC started F3 in the summer of 2016. Bleary-eyed I entered a circle and was awarded the name Corncob—a name I wear proudly nearly two years later. Through my time with this weird collective of early-rising crazies, I’ve often wondered how this thing landed in Greenwood in the first place.

Someone out there could tell the full story I’m sure, but here’s what I know.

Word on the street is that F3GReenwood was an off-shoot of F3Lexington. As is usually the case, a lot of F3 regions contributed for the first 6 weeks to get the Greenwood Pax on good footing.

The first AO was Epicenter (The Mothership). Everything else grew out of that. Mayhem from F3Lexington was the initial point of contact from Lexington and showed the initial group of guys the ropes. Mayhem, Headgear, and Apple were originally from Greenwood and did a lot to spread the word. Flossy, Meatloaf, and Juggernaut were also instrumental in getting everything up and running. Flossy stepped up to be the first Nantan.

I’m sure there’s more to the story, but that’s all I’ve got so far.

At any rate, thanks to all those responsible for bringing this rabble of wayfaring strangers together and keeping this F3 thing going for the past three years.

until next time, CC
