YHC showed up at the Epicenter this morning expecting to see about 6 pax for the Memorial Day Murph. Murph is one of the most difficult hero WODs out there and YHC had “encouraged” the pax to forego the partitioning of the workout and do the workout as intended – straight through. So it was a bit surprising when 15 – 15! – pax showed up to honor Lt. Michael Murphy and all those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

It was pretty moving going around the CoT with pax saying the name of a fallen soldier instead of their own. Pacer and Mulligan both deployed with men who were KIA. It was also moving to hear several names from right here in Greenwood.
Lt. Michael Murphy served his country with honor not only with his death, but more so in his life. He held himself to the highest standard and dedicated his entire life in service to others.
Service begins where self ends. As long as we focus on ourselves – what’s in it for us, what we can get out of it – then we cannot serve others. In honor of these heroes, let’s focus less on ourselves and more on others.
