Refugee Q’d the final workout of his 8 wk of Thursdays last week.  Uncle Jesse still has 5 more for his 4 months of UJ Q’s.  So YHC decided that it was time to take it back to some old school Fury style beatdowns and would bat in the leadoff spot starting with this Thursday.  The night before I was returning from a business trip and so did not notice that the Tweeterverse had been rather quiet.  Thursday morning the alarm went off at 0358 like always, but the fartsack was making a strong bid for my gloom time.  After several snoozes, it was time to rise and get dressed with just enough time to make it to Fury’s chain linked dead end.  While pulling up there was only the familiar white van of Inspector’s awaiting the morning’s festivities.

Conditions: Warm and muggy

Disclaimer: Not needed since there was only two of us

The THANG:

On the plane ride home a few nasties had made their way into what would be the core of the workout, but with only 2 posting a modification to the best 2pax style of workout was made.

50 Burpee PullUps

75 Tire Flips

100 KBs

150 Thrusters

175 Lunge Steps (modified into 3rds of 30 steps for each pax)

200 Dips

250 Merkins

300 Crunches

Pax 1 does the work, pax 2 runs to the woods and back.  Flapjack. Keep a cumulative count for each exercise.

This is the best 2person workout because no matter how much you may be sore or you may be tired or you may want to quit, the idea of the other guy pulling more reps than you becomes unbearable and you are forced to put out your best effort.  Don’t mistake what I am saying as you have to match the other person rep for rep.  That usually happens, but on some exercises, you’re going to do a few more than the next guy and on some he’s going to do a few more than you.  The point is that whether you knock out 20 Thrusters and he only completes 17 or he knocks out 22 dips when all you could do was 20, you are both pushing yourselves to pull your own reps.  In the end you or the other guy could lay down and barely perform any (YHC has had this happen while working with a HS coach no less!), but it’s highly unlikely even if there is a large gap in abilities and fitness between the pair.  In the end work was done.  We both were better for it, but we both grew closer in our friendship which was the most important thing.  I look forward to breaking that beastly workout I had planned on some unsuspecting pax at an AO in the near future.  Laterz!
