YHC was very excited this morning to do first Q at neighboring Epicenter, birthplace of F3 Greenwood. This was also first time had signed up for boot camp Q that was not on a Saturday which lasts an hour. More on that later. Pulled in about 5 minutes before start to another hot , humid day. Immediately saw Juggernaut was gonna join my Q for first time. That guy has been avoiding me! Ha, must not have seen the list. Also, my shipyard buddy Piddler there, traveling all the way from other side of town. Long travels indeed! Polly also walking up, who had HC’d me and luckily checked sheet or would have been at shipyard where I would not be. Not much time to intermingle with other brothers , so off we go….
For warm-ups, had couple of songs to smooth way, but train was rolling by! Dang it, Epicenter. No warm up songs!
All cadence:
15 IW
15 LBAC both ways
15 Slow squats
15 CTG
rev it up a little:
60 SSH
Indian run to hill (does it have an epicenter name, I dont know?)
Team in groups of three: 1st man at bottom-20 crunches, middle man runs to top, top man 15 merkins–all rotate off until all three have done 150 merkins and 200 crunches. Off you go! All groups finished about same time, planked til last group finished, but only about 30 seconds behind. Good pace by all groups! Your cardio rate could be controled by how fast you ran up and down hill. Had time for good form on merkins and crunches.
Run to coupons and circled up for block work. At this point I remembered point of three man groups and asked did anyone know Ecclesiastes 4:12 (Jugs said correctly) and I emphasized power of community.
Coupon and core work:
20 alpos
20 overhead presses
20 squats with coupon
20 curls
10 kettlebell swings
20 curls
partnered up three sets each–20 dips on coupons rotating with 20 reverse crunches
20 thrusters
20 big boy sit ups
15 slow count merkins to finish
coupons up and mosey to flag.
Countarama and Namarama
24 merkins to remember those veterans who could not readjust and did not have someone there to save them from selfdestruction and our 2 deployed pax. Our goal is always to hope to get that number down one day! If we just do 22 each day forever, what did we accomplish? I know that sounds harsh and can we really make a difference on a national statistic, but there should always be a purpose and goal to all we do. So , to me, the goal would be to see number go down one day, right? Just try and find that one to save, always a good start.
Word before announcements- Instead of typical devotions I always do at my Q, thought I would have quick discussion instead. I have questions about the verse Ecclesiastes 4:12- If God is all powerful and always in control, then what does it matter if it is one of his children that needs help, or if two come together , or three , etc? Why is one easily broken, two stronger, and three hard to break if they have God in their corner? Isn’t one enough? Roach made statement that God’s word encourages 2 or 3 to come together. Others pointed out the church is about community and that God made us for each other. God wants us to depend on each other for both needs and accountability. I wanted to make point that if we think about the words God said, would not one of the most powerful spiritual forces in Greenwood right now that is for God would be F3? With a comment on slack or twitter, in the span of a minute, there are 50 + brothers that could come together immediately with same prayer or focus for God’s kingdom. That to me is both a powerful thought as well as a responsibility. We should never forget what we can do together and we should take it as a responsibility as men not to regard it lightly.
Announcements- Aiken launch, Houston launch
Prayer requests- Quickie family situations, Rodman’s demons he is dealing with (lets all lift him up). Woodpecker also spoke about seeing military platoon on beach at Myrtle and as they jogged down beach, everyone cheered for them. emotional moment.
NMM-
Love epicenter chatter. I did not actually want it to end, even though Polly thinks I did. especially loved when I said Cut the grass was last warm up and then went into SSH, everyone started saying-guess he forgot about these- but for some reason , the talk slowed at 20, and 30, and 40, and 50 and by time I got to 60, think they got the point!
As we started Indian run to hill, my buddy Judge Hairy asked was this a Flossy mosey or a Judge Hairy mosey. I am not sure-will ask him at Starbucks tomorrow. Maybe in between?
Most of chatter died off during the merkin-run-crunch cycle, but I did have some good interaction with Jugs. He even accused me of professionalism!
Word to wise- if you want great work out partner to help you get through something quick, stand in circle by Roach. If you get exercise where if your partner goes fast , that means you also have to go fast, do not stand by Roach. Funny thing is the guy says he is scared of Fury. I think I have figured it out though. I think Roach has a phobia of Gremlins. He thinks there are “furry” creatures over there. Alpo, you will have to help him with this.
Always, always, love the boot camps! Hope I worked everyone hard, but kept them entertained!
