Today’s WOD was in honor of Danish Army Sgt. René Brink Jakobsen of Vang, Denmark. He died Jan. 3, 2013, after being hit by an improvised explosive device while on foot patrol with his unit in Upper Gereshk Valley in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The 39-year-old was a member of the elite Danish Special Forces Ranger unit called Jaegerkorpet. Jakobsen is survived by his wife, Camilla; three children, Mie, Sara and Thor; and many loving relatives and friends.
This was a tough one. As I was reading more about this WOD yesterday, I saw online where this WOD should be done with a weighted vest. That sold me. I contacted a few of the guys that I knew would like a challenge and told them to bring their vest.
The work went like this:
7 Rounds for Time
400 Meter Run
21 Lunge Steps
15 Pullups
9 Burpees
The Results:
Foley – 27:30* (No pullups – He asked me to include this. It doesn’t matter. Man is a beast.)
Bengay (vest) – 33:46
Inspector (vest) – 34:56
Foreclosure – 35:03
Southern Belle (vest) – 35:22
Mary Anne (vest) – 36:42
Tootsie Roll (vest) – 40:20

NMM:
I don’t know if any of you pax are paying attention, but some of these guys are really starting to crank it up a notch. Bengay, Southern Belle and Inspector are killing these workouts. Foley is leading the pack like always. I am still trying to figure out how he does it. Foreclosure was passing pax like he has been doing this for a couple of years. Tootsie Roll has been battling the flu all week and comes out with a vest on. It is fun working out and trying to keep up with these guys. It is what keeps me going. If you are not working out, you are getting left behind. Don’t get left behind!
