A few F3 Greenwood Pax have signed up to complete the Spartan Trifecta this year and despite how often we post we still have weakness to work on before the first race. One of those being rope climbs, since we don’t have an opportunity to do those. So YHC began the search for options. A rope was procured and locations to set up the rope were secured. One location is the picnic shelter at Fury, so YHC reached out to Uncle Jesse, one of the Pax that will complete the Trifecta, about using the rope during his Fury Q on 1/19. Of course he jumped on the idea and he began brainstorming. Then after 29 Pax posted to the Starbucks Run on Wednesday a recruiting firestorm ensued in an effort to get 30 Pax to post to the 3 AO’s open on Thursday. Uncle Jesse, who along with Sugar, is probably one of F3 Greenwood’s best recruiters, which is proven by the number of HC’s he was receiving for Fury. Normally 6 to 8 Pax will be a solid showing at Fury, but the HC’s made it into the double digits. Admittedly, this brought concerns of how well the rope climb would be, since there was only one rope. YHC was confident that UJ would come up with a great plan though, so I didn’t worry about it.
12 Pax posted to start their climb to the top!
5:10 AM… A good crowd is starting to form in the drive where the Shovel Flag was planted. Mumblechatter starts about “where’s Uncle Jesse”.
5:13 AM… Duggar asks “what time is it?” I check the watch and think “UJ is just running late”. So…
Disclaimer: “UJ is not a professional. You are here voluntarily, so push yourself, but don’t hurt yourself. I’m also not a professional.”
5:15 AM… No UJ, so YHC say’s “Let’s go warm up.” All the while, thinking UJ will be coming in hot and take the reigns.
Warm Up:
Mosey to the Pull-Up bars and Coupon stack. The first thing that pops into my head:
10 Burpees
10 Thrusters
10 Dips
During the 1st set, YHC starts thinking of what we are going to do for the rest of the workout. It’s early and my brain works slow, so… I call 4 rounds of the warm up and LBC’s for the 6. (Just to give myself a little more time to think… rope climbs or no rope climbs)
4 rounds come to an end and recover is called. Let’s mosey to the Picnic Shelter.
Here’s the work proscribed:
10 Burpees
10 Big Boy Sit-ups
3 Rope Climbs
Run a lap around the pond (approximately 825 meters)
Once we arrive at the Picnic Shelter it appears to be very crowded. So, let’s break the group in halves. First half starts off running the lap while the second half stays and does the work.
Off you go.
I think most Pax where able to complete 3 full rounds and were working on the 4th when time was called.
