Interesting start to Fury and the #Mumblechatter persisted throughout, which is a good thing so we could get our minds off of the muscle failure and elevated heart rate induced by a total max effort workout.
Apparently the Twitter monkey can stop a whole circus. You’ll have to ask Inspector about this, but good luck finding him anywhere you might typically try to communicate with a 21st century human. Except email, mainly because his boss signs his paychecks. YHC offered to sign them if he would get on Twitter. Inspector didn’t bite.
Pretty simple workout. 60 SSH IC to get the blood flowing a little. There were only four of us so we all worked together. Borrowed this gem from Battle and added some to it. Each man does max effort pull-ups. If you’re not doing pull-ups then you’re doing burpees. Once everyone has hit the pull-up bar mosey down to the gazebo. Each man does max effort box jumps. If you’re not doing box jumps, then you’re doing v-ups. #DontBreakTheTable
Accumulate 200 pull-ups and 400 box jumps. We ended up at about 205 pull-ups and 500 box jumps.
YHC expected this to take up most of the time and planned to break out the oft neglected Fury bricks. No dice as we finished up the pull-ups right at 6 a.m.
Count, name BoM – Please remember friends of Refugee struggling with health and family concerns and the family of a friend of Inspector’s who OD’d recently.
NMM:
Turns out Inspector hates Twitter. He threatened to back out of his VQ over it, but no dice. Besides, he already has his workout all typed out.
Speaking of Inspector, YHC noted that he was on the BRR interested list. Funny, though, he didn’t know what the BRR is. It was at this point that he asserted YHC was a bit like a rabid dog. Don’t make eye contact with Juggernaut. You never know what you’ll get into. #TrueStory
Alpo and YHC did a nice duet of Phil Collins’ “I Wish It Would Rain Down.” The SkyQ then had the late great Shannon Hoon respond with his 1992 classic “No Rain.”
Refugee watches weld porn. So does Alpo, just not on Facebook. Refugee watches anywhere it’s showing. He’s also a plumber. There are too many jokes here to list. The dip station looks great, Refugee. At least until Inspector has a look at it. #QualityControl
Has anyone seen UncleJesse? When defining “HC” for Inspector, UJ’s use of the term became confusing. It was then we discussed the use of an adjective versus an adverb. Adverbs tend to end in “-ly.” As in “Hardly Committed.” If found, please return UJ to F3Greenwood. He can possibly be located with Capri and Papa Smurf, but not likely with Crawfish or HalfStitch.
There was lots of work with all-out effort today and all the while laughter could be heard (usually over YHC’s highly audible breathing patterns). I was reminded of the power of F3 to ignite change in a man’s life and how important it has become to me personally after two very difficult years back to back. I then noticed that one year ago today I wrote a little piece on what it meant to me then. That particular day I had been up all night (again) with the oldest 2.0 having what we thought were severe asthma attacks. They had actually had to use helium instead of oxygen that night to relieve his distress.
Upon arriving home from the hospital, I put everyone to bed and bolted out the door to a workout. I so desperately needed to be around other people. I felt like my boy was dying and no one would help him. I was sad and frustrated and tired.
I had popped a simple tweet for prayer as we went to the hospital the night before. Over the course of December 8, 2015 I received literally hundreds of text messages, phone calls, emails, DMs mostly from guys I had never met face to face. It was incredibly humbling.
You can read what I wrote about that day here.
As three of us lay flat on our backs laughing our heads off and one of us was nearly face planting from doing box jumps while laughing hysterically, I was reminded once again that this life is fragile and we simply cannot navigate it alone. It also hammered home to me the absolute importance of finding the D2X and operating within it as often as possible.
Find yours. Then shed the fear of living it out. We MUST make the greatest impact on our world that we can or we will always be left wondering what might have been.
Always an honor to lead men of F3.
