Three pax joined YHC for REDFriday this morning to honor DEA Special Agent Forrest Nelson Leamon, taken too soon while serving in Afghanistan. For more on this fine hero (and former sailor), check out this great article on Legacy.

YHC noted there were three pax alongside for this morning’s adventure. YHC put a strong EH on Rodman last night while playing basketball and Rodman lived up to his HC — reluctantly. But he showed up and put in work.

MeterMaid and Sour also wanted in on the fun. UncleJesse, as is usually the case when he presses for info about the upcoming WOD, elected for…something else.

The last time YHC was joined by only Sour and MeterMaid we did these really stupid things called L pull-ups. There were stupid then and they were stupid today. Not nearly as stupid at the next movement, the Toe to Bar.

Toe to Bar is a tough movement, but the pax battled through 90 total reps of them. Be on the lookout for a progression leading up to this movement at YHC’s Qs in the future.

Here’s how the WOD breaks down:

3 RFT:

  • 20 L pull-ups
  • 30 Toe to Bar
  • 40 Burpees
  • 800m run

Times:

  • MeterMaid – 48:16
  • Jugz – 49:14
  • Sour – 49:44
  • Rodman – 52:07

YHC tried to do this WOD one day a long time ago (and in galaxy far, far away, which is evidenced by the fact that some stranger named Nips was present). It was pouring down rain that day and trying to perform T2B on wet bars is not necessarily a smart idea.

Since that time, the number of pax showing up made it prohibitive to try this nasty little WOD due to the limited space on pull-up bars and the amount of reps requiring the bar.

Today was the perfect day.

YHC was really glad Rodman posted today and especially glad that his Chester Moustache, er, halloween costume, didn’t attract the attention of anyone passing by our merry little workout.

This one went a little XL — #Cobains — but was a lot of fun once it was all over.

YHC noted that any of the men we honor on Fridays would trade anything for just one more day with their families. We so often get focused on things we don’t have, material or otherwise, and lose focus on how richly blessed we truly are. It’s an easy trap, brothers. Avoid it!

Jugz out!
