F3 Greenwood

7 PAX made their way to another glorious Red Friday workout Q’d by YHC.  As we continue to ramp up for BRR, I wanted to get something with a bit of mileage.  Scrolling through the Red Friday workout list, I stumbled upon Hidalgo.  As a group, we at F3 Greenwood had not attempted it yet, so I was sold on giving it a go.  Honestly, I expected it to take a bit longer, but all who showed up today decided to really push the envelope a bit on the running segments.  Some super fast times were posted on each 2 mile segment.  Determination was ramped up for sure.  (I love this Van Morrison Jam – St Dominic’s preview)

Hidalgo (I forgot to tell his story)

U.S. Army First Lieutenant Daren M. Hidalgo, 24, of Waukesha, WI, assigned to 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, based in Vilseck, Germany, died on February 20, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. Two weeks prior to his death, he was hit by an earlier improvised explosive device. Despite his injuries, he stayed in country and on patrols rather than return home.

  • Congrats to Spud for busting a sub 8 min/mile pace on the run.  (This guy was poormouthing himself yesterday on twitter.  Cry me a river dude!)
  • Really proud of everyone, these times are impressive.
  • Second round of squats had me begging for mercy.
  • Pacer does what pacer does. Even when stopping in the middle of the run, he still finished first.
  • Reminder to be safe out there as YHC almost got hit by an inattentive motorist.  (Of course, he would have won that battle, so reminder to not take any chances out there.)
  • I also forgot the 24 merkins so do those OYO today sometime.
