33 Pax attended the first annual “Starbucks Run From Cars” Wednesday morning race where the principal of the event was to run as long as you can, as hard as you can, as fast as you can and avoid getting hit by all traffic at all cost. I must say this format was a great success as 32 out of the 33 Pax managed to accomplish said feat. All Pax seemed to meet the first three requirements as your QIC observed a ton of sweaty Pax all around Starbucks. Only one lonely Pax not to mention any names (notably cold feet) failed to meet the final requirement. He was so close too. As he rounded the final turn on his final 800 meter return to Starbucks everything fell apart for the young newly married competitor. To hear it from the feet they call cold, his eyes caught the drivers and purportedly the drivers eyes caught his and all was good! As Cold rounded the corner everything was off the table when the driver decided to ignore all of Cold’s motions and sideswiped him straight to the pavement! Cold’s 2016 “Starbuck Run From Cars” race dream was over. So close too! Even though your QIC was totally disappointed for the young competitor, he was encouraged by the race to action by the Pax on hand as he lie gyrating like a fish on the middle of the sidewalk. If those Pax who jumped to action were to actually run that speed in a race 6 minute miles would not be off the table. Better luck next year Cold Feet (or next week).
Weather: 77-80 degrees and humid (although manageable)

In all seriousness, your QIC took this opportunity to stress the importance of safety. Today reminded us that things can change in a blink of an eye. We should never trust the intentions of the motorist on the open road. Always give yourself plenty of time to cross intersections and roads. Always maintain eye contact with drivers as they sit at intersections and whenever in doubt (even at the expense of killing your PR) let that car go before you do. No run time is too important to sacrifice your own personal safety. This was no indictment of Cold Feet because the motorist was completely at fault so that means we have to even take a second look at those major intersections.
