7 Pax showed a great amount of fortitude and chose to post to RED Friday in less than ideal conditions on this April Fool’s Day.

After another substitution we chose to Honor U.S. Air Force Security Forces 1st Lt. Joseph D. Helton with our Hero WOD this morning.  He was killed September 8th, 2009 near Baghdad when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an IED.  He was 24 and is survived by his Mother, Father, and Sisters.

YHC gave a little “Devo” about keeping a positive attitude through out all of your life’s activities. The good and the bad.  Positive attitudes are contagious just as negative attitudes.  Surround yourself with positive people and it will help you remain positive throughout your tough times. Keep a positive attitude and people will want to surround themselves with you.  If you continue to remain positive and upbeat throughout your trials the people witnessing you will want to know what you have that gives you the ability to remain in that state of mind, which will lead you to an opportunity to witness to that individual.  Remember that eyes are on you at all times.

NMS:

  • With this being YHC’s 3rd substitution Q, he thought he would play a little April Fool’s joke on the Pax and impersonate Uncle Jessie (original Q) by sporting the headband.  4 Steps into the mosey to the coupon pile and my lack of speed showed the Pax I was indeed not Uncle Jessie.  The gig was up.
  • Keeping up with the Substitution theme, YHC originally planned to throw the Badger Hero WOD at the Pax, but due to the rainy conditions, it was wisely thought that the Pull-Ups on the painted bars would have the likelihood of ending badly, so YHC threw out the Helton Hero WOD as the substitution.  It did not disappoint.
  • Enjoyed receiving the encouragement from those that had finished to help push YHC to the finish and also enjoyed seeing the Pax that had finished get down and do additional Burpees along side of the ones still working to help push them to the finish.
  • YHC made the comment that with the rain and doing Burpees in the puddles our shirts began to feel like a weighted vest.  Which may explain several of the Pax going shirtless the last 2 rounds.  Or maybe they were just preparing for the “Shirtless Entry” a little early.
  • Times may be a few seconds off, due to YHC hitting clear before he got them all wrote down.  Remembered the minutes for most, but not the seconds.  Fat Thumb syndrome strikes again.  #Cobain’s

As always, it’s an honor…
